If you've been following the will-they-won’t-they saga between Scripps Health and Anthem Blue Cross, you're probably just as frustrated as we are. What started as a temporary breakup has started to feel like one of those long, drawn-out splits where both sides are pointing fingers and the people caught in the middle—the consumers—are the ones suffering the most.
Scripps is blaming Anthem. Anthem is blaming Scripps. And here we are, stuck without clarity, like we just want them to get counseling and work it out already.
We were hopeful this would be resolved quickly. Honestly, we all thought this was going to be a short blip—but it’s dragging on far longer than anyone anticipated. That said, we still believe they’ll come to an agreement. It’s not a matter of “if,” it’s just a matter of “when.” (Though at this rate, I might need to send them both a strongly worded greeting card.)
In the meantime, if you’re one of the thousands impacted, I completely understand how stressful this is. You deserve continuity of care, access to your doctors, and transparency—three things that feel in short supply right now.
There are update pages available from both Anthem and Scripps, but I’ll be honest—they haven’t been super diligent in keeping them fresh. Still, here they are in case you want to bookmark them:
We will keep monitoring everything closely and share any meaningful updates as soon as I have them. In the meantime, if you’re not sure what to do next or need help understanding your options, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to support you every step of the way—and we'll always go to bat for you (even if that means refereeing this Scripps-Anthem soap opera).
Hang in there. We’ll get through this together.
Warmly,
Jessica Schulte Walker
