CMS has made some drastic changes to how agents can assist with Prescription Drug Plans which became effective 10/1/22. As a result of these changes, you will want to have a www.medicare.gov account set up with a username and password.
Once logged in to www.medicare.gov, you will be able to review your current enrolled Prescription Drug Plan and you'll want to click the "Preview 2023 plans" to view all of the offered Prescription Drug Plans in San Diego County.
The next step will ask you to select the Plan Type, which you'll want to select the "Drug plan (Part D)" option. The system will prompt you to identify a pharmacy, and then to review the current prescription list which is on record. You can modify this list if there are any changes.
If your current enrolled plan for 2023 still provides the best overall value, you will not need to do anything. However, if one of the alternate plans reflected will provide a greater value, then you can select and enroll on that plan directly through this Medicare portal. All of the 2023 plans are listed on the www.medicare.gov portal now, however you can only enroll in a different plan during the 10/15 - 12/7 Annual Election Period Window.
