Matthew is an active member of the California Agents and Health Insurance Professionals, which is the largest association of health insurance brokers whose main focus is to protect the consumer. He served on the Board of the North County New Generations, which provided direct support to the regional Rotary Club, which serves to improve Public Health initiatives internationally. He also served on the Young Professionals Board for ARTS (A Reason to Survive), an organization which provides artistic programs for youth facing medical adversity and those living with financial hardship.

Matthew enjoys traveling and is an avid Padres and former Chargers fan. He has aspirations to see the Padres play in all 30 Major League Ballparks.

Matthew graduated from New Mexico State University in 1999.
